About Sytex

Based in Argentina, Sytex is a SaaS telecommunications project management tool, which provides support to teams in order to assign resources, define process and plan services providing end-to-end control.

Its largest client is Claro (Argentina), the main mobile phone service provider in Argentina, which uses Sytex to manage its projects and its telephone network, among other requirements.

Sytex didn’t want to simply provide their customers with a simple SaaS stable product for project management; they wanted to ensure quality, security, performance, and reliability, ensuring trust with their users. With DinoCloud and the Well-Architected™ Framework, they were able to implement a new solution that improved all these areas and customer service.

Technologies Used

Amazon VPC, Amazon EC2, Amazon EKS, Amazon S3, Amazon CloudFront, Amazon GuardDuty, AWS WAF, AWS Secrets Manager, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Gitlab, Helm, Helmfile, ChartMuseum, DataDog.

The Challenge

Scale over time.

In order to maintain their reliability to their clients even as they continue to grow their portfolio, Sytex needed the ability to scale over time and automate all the processes of integration, deployment, and operations of their product.

As Sytex’s process stood, customers, calling was the downtime metric they were handling and developers connecting to instances and pulling docker images were their CI/CD pipeline.

Sytex wanted a reliable, automated, scalable, performant and secure new architecture to face all their new milestones.

Our Approach

Be DevOps-First

To develop a fully automated integration and deployment process, we needed to start automating infrastructure creation. The team was restricted to execute manual changes on the AWS console.

The new Architecture migrated from single containers on directly EC2 instances, using Amazon EKS as the main service and helm charts for deployment and configuration management.

All clients were migrated to new architecture under an automated and scalable approach, ensuring that resources were able to grow with traffic demands.

The Technical Story

DinoCloud used Helm, Kubernetes and Amazon EKS multiple times in different companies. This architecture was pretty familiar with the company.

Also, the Terraform definition was pretty quick cause DinoCloud had all the modules ready to adopt and deploy in new AWS Accounts.

Sytex wanted a reliable, automated, scalable, performant and secure new architecture to face all their new milestones.

The Results

A Next-Generation Architecture

With DinoCloud’s help, Sytex was able to integrate their changes in less than a minute, ensuring continuous feedback and controlled, incremental evolution. Clients were able to solve their support issues much faster and client service was much performant in terms of user experience.

Sytex prepared its solution to grow over time and the commercial strategy was confident about closing new big deals to a stable, scalable and secure architecture. Operational processes were automated and the state of Sytex and its components and interactions was visible and controlled 24/7.

All clients were migrated to new architecture under an automated and scalable approach, ensuring that resources were able to grow with traffic demands.
